Overview
Chisholm offers a monthly education program in partnership with Nova Scotia Adoption Services (Department of Community Services).
Our trauma informed care group provides critical training and support for parents and caregivers who are approved for adoption and are waiting to be matched with a child.
Our Approach
The trauma informed care group is focused on looking beyond behavior and understanding children’s needs from a trauma informed care model. The objective of the group is to best prepare caregivers to welcome a child who has experienced complex trauma into their home.
Testimonial
Chisholm’s Trauma Informed Care Group gave me the strategies, tools and understanding of how to deal with a child who’s experienced complex trauma. This knowledge has allowed me to help my son navigate the big emotions…getting him “back to calm” in a compassionate way. -- Parent / Caregiver
